Reading Fringe Festival
18th July 2015
On 18th July, Reading Pole Arts took over the PentaHotel and showed Reading the history behind modern pole dance. Daria, Steff and Brooke performed solos portrayed different pole dance styles and Daria, Steff and Sam performed a group routine incorporating the three main pole dance genres - sport, erotic and art. We all had a great time and the audience seemed to love it too - especially when they got to try their hand at learning part of the routine they had just seen! Thank you Reading Fringe Festival, we look forward to being part of your activities next year!
Steff is 24 and has been pole dancing since September 2014. She says that pole has improved her strength, endurance and flexibility, as well as raising her confidence. She enjoys the sense of empowerment that pole gives her. The confidence that pole has given her has crossed over into other aspects of her life and she says, 'That work presentation seems far easier after you’ve performed an intricate, acrobatic aerial routine in just your bra and pants”
Daria is 25 and started pole classes out of curiosity in February 2014. She was amazing by the complex mixture of strength, flexibility, control and dance that pole fitness involved. She loves both the challenge and the reward that pole gives her, saying, 'There is nothing like the sense of achievement when I finally manage a move that I have been working on for weeks or even months!'
